Centrally located on the majestic Grand Army Plaza, Union Temple sits at the intersection of Park Slope and Prospect Heights. The third floor Ballroom is an elegant space measuring 3,575 square feet. The Ballroom has a seating capacity of 250 people, with a dance floor. Crystal chandeliers hang from a decorative 35-foot ceiling. An adjacent reception area of 966 square feet is included in the Ballroom rental. A fully equipped kitchen is available for use by your caterer. Tables and chairs are provided for up to 250 guests. Our facilities are air-conditioned and handicapped accessible. We will work with you and your event planner or caterer to create a floor plan, with seating arrangements most suitable for your event. The following tables are available for your use:

There is street parking in the surrounding area, as well as several parking garages: Quik Park at 1 Grand Army Plaza, Quik Park at 105 Underhill Avenue, and Parking Management at 500 Sterling Place.
A deposit of a third of the rental is required to secure the date for your event. Deposits are payable by money order or certified check. Balance of contract is due 30 days prior to the event date, including a security deposit of $500. The security deposit will be mailed back approximately two weeks after the event, providing there is no damage incurred. If the event is canceled by the patron, the Temple will attempt to rebook the date. If successful, the charge to the patron will be reduced by the amount received by the Temple from such rebooking. If unsuccessful, no refund will be issued. Cancellation must be given in writing.
Are catering, event planning, or other services provided?
We provide rental space, but all other services, including catering, event planning, flower and other decorations, beverage, and music are provided by the renter. You are free to use any vendor you wish.
Do members get a special rate?
Yes, members receive a substantial discount and priority on booking dates. Call the office for rate and scheduling information.
Are there any restrictions on decorations?
No decorations may be affixed to the walls or ceiling. Table decorations and stand-alone decorations are permitted.
Is there a sound system available?
The renter must bring their own sound equipment. The sound equipment must be plugged into the Temple’s sound control system. Woofers must not exceed 1500 watts and sound levels must not exceed 90 decibels.
Can I have a band or DJ play?
Yes, as long as they follow our sound system guidelines.
Can set-up begin before 3:00PM?
On Saturdays, set-up may not begin before 3:00PM. On Sundays and weekdays, set-up may be available before 3:00PM; please check with the Temple regarding your particular date.
When can I drop off items for my event? May I store items prior to the date of the event?
Does the food have to be kosher?
Kosher food is not required, but we prefer to avoid pork and shellfish.
Who is responsible for cleaning the space?
We will take out the trash and put away tables and chairs. All other cleanup is the responsibility of the renter.
Can I come in to tour the space?
Absolutely! Walk-throughs are available by appointment only. Appointments are usually available 3:30 – 5:00PM. Please call 718-638-7600 ext. 1.
